Journal Author Resources: Frequently Asked Questions When will my article be published? The journal editor, not the GSA Publications Department staff, determines which articles will appear in which issues. You must contact the journal editor directly. The editor's contact information is listed in the journal. You can also find it on the journal's webpage (www.gerontologyjournals.org). What do all these squiggles mean? If you need a key to the copyediting marks, please let Candise Heinlein know when you e-mail her your current contact information. She will send a copy along with your copyedited manuscript. Affiliations Journal policy is to list the place with which the author was affiliated when the article was written. If you or a coauthor have moved on since the article was written, you may include an update in the Acknowledgments section, but we will retain the original affiliation as it appeared on your accepted manuscript. Copyright Transfer Agreement You as the corresponding author have the authority to sign the Copyright Transfer Agreement on behalf of your coauthors. The law does not require that each of the coauthors sign the Agreement. Do not delay sending in your manuscript because you are waiting for your coauthors to sign the Copyright Transfer Agreement. Reprints and Offprints When you receive your page proofs, you will also receive a form giving you the opportunity to order offprints of your article. Offprints are printed at the same time as the journal, on the same paper, and are stapled on the side. Because they are run on the press, they offer print quality reproduction of figures and photographs. Offprints must be ordered before the article is printed. Return the form to the vendor, Odyssey Press, within 48 hours of receiving your proofs. Reprints may be ordered at any time after the article is published. They cost more, but they are stapled on the fold. Because they are run after the fact, the quality of photographs and figures is not as high as that in offprints. GSA does not handle requests for reprints. Address all such requests to Laurie at Odyssey Press (laurie@odysseypress.com). On-line Journal Access If you have questions regarding on-line access to GSA journals, please see GSA's online journal FAQs webpage. Permissions GSA's journals and publications are registered with Copyright Clearance Center (CCC): Copyright Clearance Center Contact CCC for permission to use copyrighted material. CCC, not GSA, grants permission for photocopies and reprints. |
